What does this exercise entail?
This exercise involves rating a clinical vignette using both the DSM and HiTOP systems. There are brief introductions to both systems and to HiTOP-specific constructs. There are three vignette examples linked in the survey, or respondents can apply the exercise to the person (e.g., current client) or vignette of their choosing.

For the HiTOP model, the survey uses skip logic such that respondents only rate constructs that fall beneath the umbrella of difficulties rated as "somewhat" or "very much" a problem on the previous level of the hierarchy. There are brief descriptions of HiTOP constructs that might be unfamiliar to respondents. Only the superspectra, spectra, and subfactors are rated—so it is ultimately an exercise in developing basic familiarity in the model.

Respondents will also indicate DSM-5 diagnoses with options modeled to reflect the table of contents of the diagnostic manual. There are separate lists for each of the following diagnostic classes: neurodevelopmental disorders, schizophrenia and related disorders, bipolar and related disorders, depressive disorders, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, trauma and stressor-related disorders, dissociative disorders, somatic symptom disorders, feeding and eating disorders, elimination disorders, sleep-wake disorders, sexual dysfunctions, gender dysphoria, impulse-control and conduct disorders, neurocognitive disorders, substance-related and addictive disorders, personality disorders, paraphilic disorders, and other mental disorders. Respondents can select as many diagnoses as desired and do not have to select for categories they perceive as irrelevant.

Qualtrics will populate a summary of respondent answers at the end of the survey, and respondents can convert that into a PDF (say, if proof of completion is needed for a class).
